The Ivanti Mobile Client automatically manages VPN connections to ensure continuous secure access for users. By supporting multiple VPN gateway URLs in each profile, the client intelligently connects to the most appropriate gateway as described below:
- The Ivanti client first attempts to establish a VPN connection using the configured URLs.
- If the initial connection fails—for example, if the gateway is unreachable—the client automatically tries connecting to the next available URLs in the configured list.
- When a connection is successful, a VPN session and tunnel are established.
- If the connected VPN gateway becomes unavailable, due to issues such as high load, connection timeouts, or no response from the server, the client will attempt to reconnect to the same gateway.
- If reconnection fails due to a network failure, the Ivanti client retries with the same URL and then moves on to the next configured URL and attempts to establish a VPN connection via that gateway.
- This automatic failover mechanism ensures a seamless VPN experience, maintaining connectivity through alternate gateways whenever possible.
