The Virtual Traffic Manager can apply limits on the bandwidth used by connections to the back-end nodes. These limits may be useful if the back-end nodes reside in a remote datacenter, and the bandwidth to the remote site needs to be managed.

You can apply bandwidth limits to a pool by clicking the **Bandwidth Management** link on the **Pools > Edit** page for that pool. Select a bandwidth management class and click the **Update** button.

:::hint{type="info"}
The bandwidth limit only applies to data sent from the Virtual Traffic Manager system to the remote server node. The Virtual Traffic Manager does not apply a limit on the bandwidth from the remote node back to the Virtual Traffic Manager. Bandwidth Management is covered in detail in [Bandwidth Management](docId\:amcCuT4eS65c2JcvL3WNO).

Bandwidth Management is not available on all Virtual Traffic Manager configurations. If required, it can be obtained via a software or license key upgrade.
