Newly discovered CIs must be manually moved to the CMDB before you can proceed with ITSM activities related to:

- Incident management
- Change management
- Problem management
- Knowledge management
- Release management
- Request management

If you’re using Ivanti Neurons for ITSM, it’s possible to integrate service mapping capabilities into the
ITSM console. For more information, contact your Ivanti representative.

Note that you can also use business rules to automatically promote CIs and updates to the CMDB. For details, see the “Business rules” section below.
